Finland has become one of Europe's largest buyers of United States military equipment, according to Finnish public broadcaster Yle, which analysed procurement data from the Ministry of Defence, the Finnish Defence Forces and the Brussels-based think tank Bruegel.
The data shows Finland has spent or received US export approval for defence purchases worth about 42.3 billion dollars between 2008 and 2026, placing the country among the four biggest European customers for American military equipment.
Only Germany, Poland and Turkey rank higher.
