The violence reportedly erupted shortly after the conclusion of vote counting in Jushi, when suspected political thugs allegedly invaded the community, attacking residents and disrupting activities.
One person has been killed and at least five others injured after violence broke out during the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Kaduna State House of Assembly seat in Mai Gwado community, Jushi Ward, Sabon Gari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The violence reportedly erupted shortly after the conclusion of vote counting in Jushi, when suspected political thugs allegedly invaded the community, attacking residents and disrupting activities.
Residents accused some politicians of sponsoring youths to unleash violence in the area following disagreements linked to the primary election.
During the unrest, several shops, vehicles and tricycles popularly known as Keke NAPEP were vandalised, while residents fled for safety as hoodlums allegedly moved through the community armed with machetes and other dangerous weapons.
