Party members and supporters reportedly trooped out in large numbers from the early hours of Saturday in anticipation of the exercise.
The House of Representatives primary election of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Ekiti/Isin/Irepodun/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency in Kwara South ended abruptly on Saturday after suspected political thugs invaded voting centres in Arandun, Irepodun Local Government Area, and Ekan in Oke-Ero Local Government Area of Kwara State, disrupting the exercise and throwing the process into chaos, SaharaReporters has learnt.
The primary election, which was conducted through the direct voting method adopted by the APC, was expected to allow registered party members to openly queue behind the emblem and agents of their preferred aspirants for accreditation and counting.
Party members and supporters reportedly trooped out in large numbers from the early hours of Saturday in anticipation of the exercise.
However, despite the massive turnout of party faithful, officials of the party, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and security agencies allegedly failed to arrive at the venues until about 3pm, a development that reportedly created anxiety, suspicion, and tension among participants waiting to cast their votes.
