Antonio Guterres condemns Israel’s plan for a military complex on UNRWA’s former Sheikh Jarrah headquarters in occupied East Jerusalem.

The UN says the move breaches an International Court of Justice advisory opinion upholding UNRWA’s mandate and Israel’s obligation to assist relief work.

Israel plans a defence complex, museum and enlistment office on a 3.6-hectare site to bolster the defence establishment’s presence in Jerusalem.

The announcement came on Jerusalem Day, coinciding with Palestinian Nakba commemorations, intensifying tensions over sovereignty and historical narratives.
