Authorities have placed Athens under heightened security ahead of the EuroLeague Final Four, with thousands of police officers being deployed around the Olympic Athletic Center (OAKA) and the adjacent Telekom Center.

The security measures, comparable to those used during the UEFA Europa Conference League final in Athens in 2024, include five successive checkpoints beginning outside the Olympic complex on Spyros Louis Avenue in the northern suburb of Maroussi. Fans entering the venue will be required to present both tickets and identification, while access to the arena area has been tightly restricted with extensive fencing and a heavy police presence.

Public gatherings and motorized convoys have also been banned in central Athens from the early hours of Thursday through Monday morning, covering the area around Zappeio Hall, which is hosting the official Fan Zone – a four-day festival celebrating Athens’ role as the venue for Europe’s premier club basketball event.

The operation includes drones, aerial surveillance and K9 units, with live footage from checkpoints being transmitted directly to the Attica police headquarters operations center. Security measures have been in force since the arrival of the participating teams in the Greek capital.
