Coca-Cola HBC is launching another new investment in Greece, as it begins the construction of a state-of-the-art logistics center in Attica, with the project budget exceeding 31 million euros.Following this center, the total funds that the group has channeled into the country over the last five years reach 180 million euros.According to the statements made during the inauguration of the new high-speed PET production line at the Coca-Cola Hellenic mega plant in Schimatari – in the presence of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the group’s management – the new logistics hub is expected to be ready by 2028.New logistics centerIts operation will be based on high-tech systems and automation that utilize artificial intelligence. The new logistics center will have the capacity to store up to 33,000 pallets, radically upgrading the company’s distribution network in the domestic market.Announcing the project, the group’s CEO, Zoran Bogdanovic, described the investment as a “long-term decision that reflects our trust in the country, its future and its people,” adding that “Greece is not just part of our history. It is at its core.”The new PET lineRegarding the new PET line inaugurated in Schimatari, it replaces older infrastructure while absorbing capital of 20 million euros. This high-speed line offers more than double the production capacity compared to before, while at the same time reducing the energy footprint and the use of plastic.The Schimatari unit remains the group’s largest production center in Greece and one of the most pivotal worldwide for Coca-Cola HBC. The plant is home to 16 of the company’s 22 production lines nationwide. It produces 93% of the carbonated soft drinks sold in the Greek market, as well as approximately 60% of the total volume of non-alcoholic beverages in its portfolio.“No matter how far we travel, our heart always beats in Greece and Cyprus,” said Coca-Cola HBC Executive Chairman Anastasios David, while Coca-Cola 3E Greece General Manager Svetoslav Atanasov highlighted the company’s economic footprint, noting that the activities of Coca-Cola 3E, The Coca-Cola Company and Coca-Cola HBC generate an impact of 2.2 billion euros on Greek GDP and support more than 50,700 direct and indirect jobs.
