Citadel Securities, one of the largest market makers on the planet, has added more than 60 people to its Asia operations this year. Nearly half of those hires are based in Hong Kong, signaling that the firm sees the city as its primary launchpad for regional growth.

Hong Kong as the anchor

Citadel Securities views Hong Kong as a leading financial center, and the concentration of hires there, roughly 30 people, reflects that conviction. The firm’s APAC operations are overseen by Vikesh Kotecha, who heads the regional business.

The crypto angle

Citadel Securities has been actively recruiting for a “Systematic Crypto Trader” position, suggesting that digital assets are becoming a formal part of the firm’s trading toolkit rather than a side experiment.
