A special training programme on food safety was conducted for workers of Amma Unavagams under the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation on Wednesday (May 20).The programme was held at the corporation’s main office under the leadership of Corporation Commissioner M. Sivaguru Prabakaran.Officials said the training was organised following directions from the government to improve infrastructure and maintain hygiene standards at Amma Unavagams.Addressing the participants, the Commissioner said measures were being taken to ensure uninterrupted supply of clean and hygienic food to the public through Amma Unavagams. He urged the workers to effectively utilise the training programme and follow food safety practices while preparing and serving food.FSSAI trainer Karthik trained the workers on hygienic food preparation, maintenance of cleanliness in kitchen premises, safe storage of groceries and vegetables, identification of adulterated food items, supply of safe drinking water and personal hygiene.Officials said 12 Amma Unavagams are functioning in various parts of the city, including Masakalipalayam, Singanallur, Mettupalayam Road, Saravanampatti, Kuniyamuthur, Kovai Pudur and Podanur.
