New Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar has said he may meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Berehove, in the Zakarpattia region following the completion of Ukrainian-Hungarian consultations.

Speaking at a joint press conference with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Warsaw on Wednesday, Magyar said the formation of the Tisza Party government opens a "new opportunity in relations between Ukraine and Hungary," according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

He said Hungary has already signaled Ukraine and begun working-level consultations focused on the rights of the Hungarian minority, including language and other issues.

"We have already sent a signal to the Ukrainian side and even started working consultations on the rights of the Hungarian minority – language and other issues – so that they also receive everything that others have in the European Union. I hope this series of working talks will be concluded quickly, and, as I proposed, we will likely be able to meet with President Zelensky in Berehove in Zakarpattia, where Hungarians make up a significant part of the population," Magyar said.
