Shipping is the most critical pillar of the global economy, stated the President of the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping, George Alexandratos, during his address at Naftemporiki’s 10th Shipping Conference.Alexandratos described the conference agenda as timely. He further noted that Greece possesses significant comparative advantages, including the world’s largest fleet, a strategic geographical position, and unique maritime expertise.At the same time, he emphasized that shipping is undergoing a period of major transformation.He stressed that discussions should cease to remain theoretical and must be translated into realistic proposals. He also referred to the role of Naftemporiki, noting that it contributes to the maintenance of public dialogue.He also pointed out that competitiveness in shipping is not an ideological position but a prerequisite for the functioning of the global economy.In closing, he stated that in societies, perception is often stronger than laws, frequently functioning as an unwritten rule.
