Thanjavur district has achieved a giant leap in the rank list of SSLC examinations held this year in the State.The district has bagged the third place in the pass percentage list, securing 97.41 in the recently concluded Secondary School Leaving Certificate examination. Last year, the district was at the twelfth position in the list, registering a pass percentage of 95.57. In the preceding year (2024), it was in the fifteenth place with a pass percentage of 93.40, according to official sources.While 29,618 students from 408 schools appeared for the examination, a total of 28,851 candidates have successfully passed out. Last year, 29,275 students appeared for the examination and 27,978 passed out.The performance of government school students remained above the 90 percentage mark this year also. While government schools managed to clock a pass percentage of 94.14, this year it rose by 2.75.The government schools fared well in achieving 100 percent pass percentage this year with nearly 116 out of 228 schools recording nil failure compared to 88 schools last year, sources pointed out.Tiruvarur district recorded a pass percentage of 93.80 in the SSLC examinations and secured 24th place in the pass percentage list.
