The consumption landscape is shaping a new service model, with online delivery companies taking a leading role by developing new offerings and expanding their operational footprint. This development is closely linked to the rise of quick commerce (q-commerce), which in recent years has become a key competitive arena for major international players, fundamentally reshaping the dynamics of e-commerce. The demand for immediate and reliable service, combined with technological advancements in supply chain management and fleet optimisation, has established q-commerce as one of the most prominent emerging consumer trends. Online delivery is now extending beyond coffee and food to include everyday products and essentials delivered quickly and securely to the end consumer. As a result, a new pillar of e-commerce is emerging, centred on the rapid delivery of goods at the time and location chosen by the consumer. In contrast to traditional e-commerce, where deliveries typically take several days, q-commerce targets delivery times not exceeding one hour. From food delivery to a fully integrated service ecosystemWithin this evolving environment, efood has developed into a modern online shopping platform, leveraging technology, delivery speed and rapid adaptation to user needs. Since 2011, the company has progressively expanded its services beyond coffee and food delivery, aligning with the rapid growth of quick commerce through the delivery of retail products, while simultaneously strengthening the digital presence of thousands of partner stores across Greece. It provides these partners with an integrated sales platform, eliminating the need for them to manage their own distribution logistics. In this context, the adoption of new tools, including artificial intelligence applications, forms a core component of the company’s strategy, aimed at enhancing the experience of users, partner stores and couriers, as well as improving the overall efficiency of the platform.Partnership with PlaisioThe partnership with Plaisio further confirms this momentum, demonstrating that delivery services are no longer limited to food but now extend to virtually every aspect of modern daily life. It introduces a new on-demand delivery service offering access to a wide range of products, from consumables and stationery to technology items and gift options.Through this collaboration, efood users can now select from more than 3,000 products available at Plaisio stores directly via the efood platform and receive them at their location in under one hour, at the same prices offered on plaisio.gr.The service leverages Plaisio’s physical retail network, offering delivery coverage within a 6-kilometre radius of each store, combined with efood’s distribution infrastructure, ensuring fast and reliable service for consumers. It is currently available at 15 Plaisio stores — initially in Athens and Thessaloniki — operating Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 20:00 and on Saturdays from 10:00 to 18:00.
