A bullet that wasn’t meant for Karolina Huebner-Makurat but killed her all the same on a beautiful summer day in Leslieville shattered the sense of safety felt by those she left behind, a court heard Tuesday.
Inside a University Avenue courtroom, Damian Hudson, wearing a dark pinstripe blazer, sat mostly motionless in a prisoner’s box as over 30 victim impact statements were read into the record. He was found guilty of second-degree murder by a jury in December. The jurors rejected the drug dealer’s claim that he fired a gun in self defence during a robbery gone wrong involving two other men.
