The coalition described the delay as a “troubling pattern of fiscal opacity” that undermines transparency, accountability and public trust in governance.
A coalition of civil society organisations under the aegis of Open Alliance has accused the governments of Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Delta, Osun and Rivers states of undermining transparency and accountability by failing to publish their First Quarter 2026 Budget Implementation Reports within the expected timeline.
The coalition described the delay as a “troubling pattern of fiscal opacity” that undermines transparency, accountability and public trust in governance.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Founder of MonITNG, Uadamen Ilevbaoje, the coalition demanded that the affected states immediately make the reports public within seven days.
According to the coalition, budget implementation reports are key accountability documents that allow citizens, investors, civil society groups and oversight institutions to monitor government revenue, expenditure and project execution.
