May 19 (UPI) -- CBS and Dick Clark Productions announced Tuesday that Darius Rucker will be awarded the Veterans Voice Award at the American Music Awards. The AMAs air live on CBS and Paramount+ from Las Vegas, on Monday at 8 p.m. EDT.

The Veterans Voice Award is presented by USAA's Honor Through Action. Monday is Memorial Day and May is Military Appreciation Month.

Rucker has worked with Military Warriors Support Foundation and performed for the USO and DoD Warrior Games. The award recognizes Rucker's commitment to using his platform to "make meaningful, lasting change in the lives of those who served."

Hootie & the Blowfish, Rucker's band, will also perform at the AMAs.
