In a step toward strengthening the maritime defence and surveillance framework of the State, the new Coastal Security Police building was formally inaugurated by Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta in the city on Tuesday.The state-of-the-art facility is designed to serve as a nerve center for coastal monitoring, intelligence gathering, and rapid response operations along the state’s extensive coastline. Inspector General of Police (IGP), Visakha Range, Gopinath Jatti, Coastal Security Police and police officials of Coastal Security Police (CSP) were presentDuring the programme, Mr. Harish Kumar Gupta reviewed the functioning of the coastal security police and preventive measures taken at beaches, beach patrolling details, lives savings, community outreach programmes, village vigilance committees performance and its impact, functioning of special intelligence unit in coastal security, equipment and vehicles available in the coastal security wing and the need for the improvement, training programmes conducted so far. He was also briefed about the induction of three platoons of APSP, awareness programmes on environmental conservation (olive ridley turtles), drug awareness programmes, night halts, flag hoisting on islands, and naval NCC. The DGP appreciated the initiatives taken by coastal security police and assured to provide all the necessary infrastructure and other requirements to further strengthen the coastal security police.
