Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Harish Kumar Gupta on Saturday launched a new Visakhapatnam City Police website (https://vizagcitypolice.ap.gov.in/), aimed at providing a wide range of citizen-centric services.As Visakhapatnam is rapidly emerging as a ‘knowledge city’, the city police department must also evolve with the rapid chang in the technology space, Mr. Gupta said, adding that the new website has been designed keeping in mind issues of citizens, many being unaware of navigating through the difficult situations.“The platform offers essential services ranging from reporting missing cell phones to complaints relating to missing persons,” he said.Mr. Gupta described the portal as a dynamic and model website that could be replicated by police departments in other cities in the future.Cyber War RoomReferring to the growing cyber crime threat, the DGP said that mobile phones have become an inseparable part of people’s lives, making citizens vulnerable to different kinds of cyber frauds and online crimes.He said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had instructed the police department to strengthen cyber crime response mechanisms. As part of this initiative, a dedicated Cyber War Room would soon function round-the-clock to receive complaints and provide immediate assistance to victims.Speaking on the occasion, Visakhapatnam Commissioner of Police, Shankabratha Bagchi, said the newly launched website has been integrated with multiple public services to make policing more accessible and transparent.The portal includes services such as e-challan payments, cyber crime complaint registration, complaint status tracking, missing mobile phone tracking and updates, missing persons complaints, missing vehicle reporting, public grievance services, arms licence information, and details of police stations across the city. Additionally, it features a migrant portal containing details of agents, social media updates of the Visakhapatnam City Police, information on police initiatives and welfare measures, emergency contact numbers, and several other public utility services.As part of the programme, the DGP presented Commendation Disc awards to 17 police personnel for their meritorious services.
