The Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic states that in its recent proposals to the United States to end the war between the two nations, Tehran has demanded the recognition of its right to uranium enrichment, the termination of hostilities across all fronts, including Lebanon, and the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iran’s surrounding environment.

Kazem Gharibabadi, who attended a session of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission on Tuesday, May 19, to present a report on the negotiation process between Tehran and Washington, announced Iran’s other conditions as “the lifting of the U.S. naval blockade, the unfreezing of Iranian assets and properties, the provision of war reparations by the United States for reconstruction efforts, and the termination of all unilateral sanctions and UN Security Council resolutions.”

Since the implementation of a fragile ceasefire between the two countries on April 8 of this year, Iran and the United States have been engaged in a round of direct negotiations, as well as an exchange of messages brokered by Pakistan, in an effort to reach an agreement to end the war.

U.S. President Donald Trump had previously dismissed Iran’s proposals as “nonsense” and threatened on May 18 that if an agreement was not reached within the next two to three days, he would launch another military assault against Iran.
