The Ameri House Hotel in Kashan, one of the largest traditional hospitality complexes in the historic city, has been sealed by authorities over what was described as “non-compliance with the mandatory hijab.”
The tourism complex directly employs around 90 people and indirectly supports nearly 150 others, making it one of the region’s most prominent traditional boutique hotels.
The move comes as the Islamic Republic has once again intensified enforcement of domestic social policies, including restrictions related to women’s dress, following the end of the 40-day conflict and ceasefire involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. This is despite state-affiliated media continuing to broadcast images of uncovered women attending government-backed public gatherings.
This is the second time the hotel has faced closure over similar allegations. Ahead of Nowruz in 2023, the Kashan Virtue Vice Committee and the city prosecutor ordered the sealing of the Saraye Ameriha Hotel after reports that some tourists had not followed hijab regulations.
Recognized as the largest historic mansion in Iran, Saraye Ameriha is considered one of Kashan’s most important cultural and tourism landmarks, attracting large numbers of both domestic and international visitors every year.
