Valiollah Hayati, Deputy Governor of Khuzestan Province for Security and Law Enforcement Affairs, said on Tuesday, May 19, that four people were injured after air defense-related projectiles fell in residential areas of Andimeshk.

Hayati said, “Due to the fall of a projectile in a residential area, four citizens were injured. Fortunately, they are in fair and stable condition, and their medical needs are currently being addressed at healthcare centers.”

Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency described the incident as the “fall of an unidentified object in residential areas of Andimeshk,” adding that one shop and two vehicles were damaged, leading to widespread discussion on local social media platforms.

Addressing the loud sounds heard over Andimeshk, the Khuzestan Deputy Governor said the noises were linked to an “air defense test” and urged residents not to panic.

The incident comes amid several recent reports of air defense systems being activated in different Iranian cities. Air defense fire was also heard in Isfahan last night and earlier today, with officials claiming it was part of “clearing operations involving remaining unexploded ordnance in the area.”
