Atiku condemned the abduction of schoolchildren and educators in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, as well as the killing of residents in Katsina State, including a pregnant woman.
Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has berated President Bola Tinubu over the worsening insecurity across the country, saying that the administration only responds to mass killings and kidnappings with “press releases” instead of taking decisive actions.
Atiku condemned the abduction of schoolchildren and educators in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, as well as the killing of residents in Katsina State, including a pregnant woman.
He described the incidents as evidence that Nigeria is “bleeding under a government that has reduced leadership to post-tragedy press statements.”
In a statement issued on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku said he was deeply disturbed by reports of the gruesome murder of one of the teachers abducted during the Ogbomoso kidnapping incident.
