Amaechi stated this during a recent interview monitored by SaharaReporters on Trust TV while speaking on his defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the ADC coalition platform ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has declared that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar will lose the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary election, insisting that the issue before party members should be “electability” rather than the number of times a candidate has contested.

Amaechi stated this during a recent interview monitored by SaharaReporters on Trust TV while speaking on his defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the ADC coalition platform ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking during the interview, Amaechi said his decision to dump the APC was deliberate and linked to concerns over accountability and the direction of governance in the country.

“Of course, that's the reason,” Amaechi said when asked if dissatisfaction with the APC informed his exit from the party.
