SUBIC BAY FREEPORT, ZAMBALES, Philippines — Newly appointed Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Subic District Collector Geniefelle Lagmay has vowed to expedite the clearing of 118 overstaying refrigerated containers that have become a major health and operational concern inside the freeport.
Lagmay, who officially assumed the post from outgoing District Collector Arnold Saulog on Monday, said he has already coordinated with the BOC central office—particularly the Legal Service and the Office of the Deputy Commissioner for Assessment and Operations Coordinating Group—to fast-track the disposition of the cargoes.
“Rest assured that we are trying our best and within weeks, we will have action on this,” Lagmay said in an interview.
