South Africa - Johannesburg - 18 May 2026 - North West businessman Brown Mogotsi, made a brief court appearance at the Johannesburg magistrate's court.

Political fixer, Brown Mogotsi will spend at least another week behind bars after the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court postponed his bail proceedings over an alleged assassination attempt.

Mogotsi, who appeared briefly in court on Monday after spending the weekend in police custody, faces five charges, including perjury and defeating the ends of justice.

Prosecutors allege the controversial political operator orchestrated his own shooting scare in November last year — a dramatic incident that initially sparked shock and speculation.

At the time, Mogotsi claimed he narrowly escaped death when a barrage of bullets struck his vehicle.
