MANILA, Philippines – Members of the Caritas Philippines Social Action Network on Sunday called on the Senate not to delay the impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte.

The appeal came a day before the Senate is set to convene as an impeachment court on May 18 under the leadership of Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano.

“We appeal to the members of the Senate to abide by what the Constitution directs: to proceed with the trial and … adhere to the rule of law and serve the common good in the pursuit of justice and truth,” according to the statement signed by 167 bishops and priests.
