The organisation said although the classroom blocks were reportedly completed under the Sustainable Development Goals intervention framework, recent inspections allegedly uncovered disturbing structural defects.
The Foundation for Environmental Rights Advocacy and Development (FENRAD) Nigeria has demanded an immediate investigation into the construction of classroom projects allegedly funded by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (OSSAP-SDGs) in Aba, Abia State, following reports of structural defects and rapid deterioration less than two years after completion.
The group, in a detailed Freedom of Information (FOI) request and accompanying press statement issued on Saturday, accused relevant authorities of failing in their oversight responsibilities and called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to launch a full-scale probe into the projects.
According to FENRAD, civic monitoring findings published by Tracka revealed that the sum of ₦204.2 million was reportedly paid in March 2025 to JAY JAY BADMUS INVESTMENT LTD for the construction and furnishing of classroom blocks at Eziama Nneato Model Secondary School, Amaise Ahaba Ward 1, and Ulasi Road Primary School in Aba.
