BACOLOD CITY — Residents of Bago City traveling to Guimaras for a relative’s funeral were rescued at sea Friday night (May 15) after their pump boat capsized, according to Coast Guard Station Northern Negros Occidental Commander Artzell Anacan.

The vessel left Bantayan Park in Bago City at around 4 p.m. on Friday, carrying two crew members and nine passengers from Barangay Binubuhan.

At about 5:37 p.m., the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Substation in Pulupandan received a distress call reporting that the boat had overturned in the waters between Negros and Guimaras, Anacan said.
