Bahram Ebrahimpour Hergolan, an Azerbaijani Turk activist residing in Ajab Shir, was arrested on April 18 following a summons to the local judiciary and subsequently transferred to Maragheh Prison.
According to information obtained by IranWire, the civil activist had been summoned to the Ajab Shir court to provide explanations regarding current charges and a prior case. However, upon his arrival, he was arrested without a clear explanation by order of Mohammad Jabbari, the head of the Ajab Shir Revolutionary Court, and sent to Maragheh Prison.
The Azerbaijani activist had previously been arrested by law enforcement during the January 2026 protests and held in Maragheh Prison. He was later temporarily released after posting bail of 1.5 billion Tomans.
Bahram Ebrahimpour Hergolan has previously faced charges such as “propaganda against the state,” “spreading falsehoods,” and “association with hostile groups,” resulting in a one-year prison sentence. Additionally, on April 19, 2025, after being arraigned at the first branch of the Ajab Shir Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office, he was temporarily released on 200-million-Toman bail pending the conclusion of legal proceedings.
