The Delphi Economic Forum honored Jean-Paul Agon, chairman and former CEO of international cosmetics company L’Oréal, on Thursday with the first Apollo International Award.

At an event held at the Acropolis Museum, the forum honored the executive whose “life practically began here, in Athens,” as he said, recalling his time leading the Athens office of the French multinational nearly half a century ago.

Agon, who helped transform the company into what DEF described as “the undisputed leader in global cosmetics,” received the award from Deputy Prime Minister Kostis Hatzidakis.

The award, DEF founder and chairman Symeon Tsomokos said, will be presented annually to individuals with global impact who embody timeless values.
