Fwa, who spoke at a tense press conference in Yola on Friday, accused the party leadership of surrendering the democratic process to “Abuja powers,” claiming aspirants had been bluntly informed that the Presidency would determine who gets APC tickets in the state.
Fresh cracks have emerged within the ruling All Progressives Congress in Adamawa State as a leading senatorial aspirant for Adamawa South, Peter Fwa, dramatically dumped the party over alleged plans to impose candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
Fwa, who spoke at a tense press conference in Yola on Friday, accused the party leadership of surrendering the democratic process to “Abuja powers,” claiming aspirants had been bluntly informed that the Presidency would determine who gets APC tickets in the state.
The politician alleged that Adamawa Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, told no fewer than 28 senatorial aspirants that the final list of candidates would come directly from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to Fwa, whatever political exercise or consultation carried out in Adamawa would merely be ceremonial.
