Greek customs authorities seized 46 kilograms of cocaine hidden in a shipping container at the capital’s Port of Piraeus, officials said Thursday.
The drugs were discovered during a joint operation by the Financial Transactions Control Unit of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue and customs inspectors.
Authorities said the container, which arrived from Ecuador, was flagged following a risk analysis assessment.
Inspectors found 40 packages of cocaine concealed inside the container, with an estimated street value of more than €1.7 million.
Officials said the case fits a broader trafficking pattern involving drug shipments from Latin America routed through Greece.
