MANILA, Philippines — Senator Jinggoy Estrada has clarified that his remark regarding the closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage of the shooting incident inside the Senate was meant to secure clips which may be used for subsequent investigations.

Estrada, in a statement on Friday, said that it is important to look at the context of his statements using the entirety of the video clip, noting that Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano and Senator Loren Legarda were asking whether or not the CCTV cameras captured the exchange of fire.

Several netizens questioned Estrada’s motive for asking the Senate staffers to hide the CCTV footage, raising concerns about whether the Senate Majority is trying to conceal the real cause of the incident last Wednesday night.
