Five persons, including four juvenile offenders, were arrested by the Theni district police and eight kilograms of ganja was seized from them.
Police said on Thursday that following a tip-off, a surveillance was stepped up on Periyakulam Road. The special team intercepted a government bus and found that five people were travelling in the bus.
Interrogations revealed that Rajesh of Cumbum Pudupatti had taken four boys with him to Vishakapattinam in Andhra Pradesh. He had reportedly procured eight kgs of ganja and travelled to Chennai by train. Later, they had boarded a bus to Theni.
Based on the confession, the Thenkarai police registered a case. Further investigation was on.
