Greeting TVK president C Joseph Vijay on assuming as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, MADITSSIA president A Senthikumar has urged the State government to expedite the industrial estate work in Melur in Madurai district. In a press release issued here on Monday, the MADITSSIA (Madurai District Tiny and Small Scale Industries Association) president said that for industrial growth in southern Tamil Nadu, the new government should consider setting up industrial estates on 500 acres with intervals of 20 kilometres along the Madurai-Thoothukudi stretch. This would give an impact and assured growth for all sectors. The SIPCOT industrial estate in Melur would bring about the much needed transformation to Madurai and also clusters in the block would invite small and new investors to step in to the district.Though the Madurai airport has been declared as an international airport, more needs to be done from the infrastructure point of view. The runway expansion and among others would alone make the airport as the preferred destination by entrepreneurs.More and more infrastructure would pave way for industrial development, which would ultimately throw open job opportunities. Above all, the migration of youth and unemployed from southern districts can be avoided to a great extent, Mr Senthikumar said and urged the Chief Minister to invite the industrial bodies and discuss on the need for electricity tariff concessions.
