Thiagarajar Mills Managing Director and CII member (Southern Regional Council) Hari K. Thiagarajan has appealed to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay to establish major industries in southern districts of the State.Meeting the CM on a courtesy call in Chennai on Thursday, Mr. Hari said there was ample scope for industrial development in southern parts of the State given the presence of V.O.C. Port in Thoothukudi, Madurai and Thoothukudi airports and other facilities. He said the government could encourage automobile majors to come to the southern districts as it would prevent migration of youth to other parts of Tamil Nadu such as Chennai and Hosur or other States such as Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.Tourism was yet another industry, which had high potential with almost every district in south T.N. having favourite places for tourists. Innovations through Startup initiatives could bring about the much-needed transformation among neo-entrepreneurs and help people visit places such as Keeladi Museum in Sivaganga district, Thirumalai Naick Palace in Madurai and the newly established Porunai Museum in Tirunelveli. The CM, Mr. Hari said, promised to examine the modalities of establishing industries in southern districts as it would benefit thousands of youth by creating jobs in their own places.
