Aappeals court on Friday acquitted and quashed the life imprisonment of Raul Esteban Calderon, an Argentine citizen found guilty in March 2025 of the murder of Fabrizio 'Diabolik' Piscitelli, a Lazio ultra killed in an ambush in Rome in August 2019.

The appeals court found that Calderon had not committed the crime.

Piscitelli was nicknamed after the cult comics antihero.

The mafia-style hit is believed to have been part of a feud among members of far-right Roman organized crime, political and ultra circles.

Anti-mafia prosecutors had charged Calderon with premeditated murder aggravated by mafia methods as well as illegal weapons possession.
