Alex Greenwood has won the first WSL title of her career and Khadija Shaw has been the league’s standout player

Ayaka Yamashita This has been a solid season for the Japan international, with her seven Women’s Super League clean sheets putting her in contention for the Golden Glove going into the final round of matches. Yamashita’s distribution has been a strength, aiding the way Andrée Jeglertz wants to play. 7

Khiara Keating Keating has made four WSL appearances, starting in two wins over Tottenham, a win over Brighton and a goalless draw with Aston Villa. She is only 21 and developing well but perhaps now faces a big decision as to whether to continue to fight for her place or seek a move away in a bid to start every week. 6

Kerstin Casparij As one of only two players to have started every WSL game for City this season, along with Bunny Shaw, the Netherlands right-back has been integral to the team’s success. Casparij’s forward runs, overlaps and accurate crosses are a key part of the City attack and her consistency is remarkable. She is one of the most reliable players in the league. 9

Alex Greenwood A terrific leader whose calm captaincy has helped eradicate plenty of the nerves, stress and tension often associated with title races. This is the first WSL title of Greenwood’s career and has been a long time coming; the 32-year-old played in the league’s inaugural season in 2011 with Everton, and has been agonisingly close to becoming a champion with City several times. 8.5
