Rome's Jewish community expressed unreserved condemnation of "antidemocratic violence" on Wednesday after one its members was detained for allegedly shooting two people with an airsoft gun at Saturday's Liberation Day march in the capital.
Eitan Bondì, 21, has been charged with attempted homicide, sources said.
The two victims of the attack, a man and woman in their 60s who were wearing scarves of Partisan association ANPI, were not seriously injured.
"The detention of a young member of the Jewish Community of Rome for the events of April 25th fills us with dismay and outrage," said Victor Fadlun, the president of the Jewish Community of Rome "The Jewish Community of Rome condemns and dissociates itself unreservedly from any form of anti-democratic violence.
"We express our full solidarity and closeness to the injured, Rossana Gabrieli and Nicola Fasciano.
