Heatwave conditions are set to intensify across northern parts of Telangana over the next two days, with maximum temperatures expected to range between 41℃ and 44℃ in several districts, according to K. Nagaratna, Head of the Meteorological Centre, India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad.
In a video message on Monday, April 27, Ms Nagaratna said prevailing synoptic conditions indicate the presence of a trough extending from Madhya Pradesh to the Comorin region, passing through interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Coupled with north-westerly winds blowing across Telangana, these conditions are expected to drive heatwave activity, particularly in the northern and north-eastern districts.
On April 27, heatwave conditions are likely to prevail at isolated locations in Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial and Rajanna Sircilla districts. On April 28, similar conditions are expected to persist in isolated areas of Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Nirmal and Nizamabad. Other districts such as Karimnagar and Warangal are likely to record high temperatures in the range of 42℃ to 44℃. Meanwhile, Hyderabad and surrounding central districts are expected to see relatively lower, though still high, temperatures between 39℃ and 42℃.
