As Telangana continues to reel under intense heatwave, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning in 10 districts for Wednesday. According to the IMD forecast, a red alert (severe heatwave) has been issued for conditions are very likely to prevail in isolated pockets of Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem and Khammam districts, reports The Hindu. The IMD has forecast pre-monsoon showers for Telangana from Thursday, May 28, 2026.Hyderabad to see light rain, thunderstormsHyderabad and its surrounding areas for the next 24 hours will see a partly cloudy sky, the weather office said. “Light rain or thundershowers accompanied with gusty winds are very likely to occur in parts of the city towards evening or night. Thereafter, a gradual fall of 2 degree Celsius to 3 degree Celsius is expected over the subsequent four days,” the IMD in its forecast on Sunday evening indicated.According to the IMD forecast, pre-monsoon activity is expected to intensify across the State by Thursday, bringing light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds of 40–50 kmph.12 Telangana districts record temperatures above 46CAccording to data from the Telangana Development Planning Society, at least 12 districts in the State recorded temperatures above 46°C on Monday, May 25, as the intense heatwave continued across the region.Vemulapalle in Nalgonda emerged as the hottest location in the State with a maximum temperature of 46.5°C. Several other areas also witnessed extreme heat, including Pinapaka in Bhadradri Kothagudem, Dharmapuri in Jagtial, Dahegaon in Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Aloor in Nizamabad and Garidepalle in Suryapet, all recording 46.4°C.Temperatures of 46.3°C were recorded in Enkuru in Khammam, Kannepalli in Mancherial and Anthergoan in Peddapalli. Chigurumamidi in Karimnagar touched 46.2°C, while Seerole in Mahabubabad and Wazeed in Mulugu recorded 46.1°C. Nirmal Rural in Nirmal registered 46°C.Several districts also reported temperatures between 45°C and 46°C. Mahadevpur in Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Madnur in Kamareddy recorded 45.8°C, while Sangem in Warangal touched 45.7°C. Ichoda in Adilabad and Boinpalle in Rajanna Sircilla recorded 45.6°C, while Bejjanki in Siddipet registered 45.2°C.
