A highly decomposed body of an unidentified individual, stuffed inside a gunny bag, was found in the northwestern part of Bengaluru on Friday (April 24, 2026) morning, police said.
The body was discovered in a Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) layout that is currently under development near Nelamangala. The accused had disposed of the body in the park area of the layout. A preliminary police probe suggested that the body had been disposed of at least three days ago.
On Friday morning, around 7.30 a.m., a morning walker noticed a foul smell near the park area and found that it was emanating from a gunny bag. The individual dialled the police helpline and informed them about the bag.
The Gangammanagudi Police arrived at the scene and shifted the body to a hospital. An investigator in the case told The Hindu that the identity, cause of death, and time of the incident are yet to be established. The body was found in a highly decomposed state and is currently kept in cold storage.
An FIR has been filed under Section 103 of the BNS, which deals with murder. The officer said that the murder had clearly taken place elsewhere and the body had been disposed of at the location.
