An active shooter was reported at the Mall of Louisiana in Baton Rouge on Thursday, April 23, according to state and local officials.
Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry said he was working with local law enforcement to respond to the situation.
“I am aware of the active shooter scene at the Mall of Louisiana. I am in coordination with law enforcement and we will update as we know more. Please avoid the area,” Landry said in a post on X. “Sharon and I are praying for those affected and are grateful for a quick response by our law enforcement officials.”
In a post on Facebook, the Baton Rouge Police Department said "all injured persons" have been transported to area hospitals and the "shooter(s)" are "still at large."
This is a developing story.
