Authorities on April 24 continued to probe what precipitated a frightening shooting inside a busy Baton Rouge mall that left five people hurt and one person dead.
The shooting, which police said took place a day earlier, sent innocent bystanders ducking for cover as a barrage of bullets flew inside the food court at the Mall of Louisiana.
Baton Rouge Police Chief Thomas Morse said innocent victims were struck during the afternoon shooting between two groups of people.
The mall was closed on April 24 as police continued to investigate.
So far, police have not revealed details about the victims or the suspects, including their ages, but Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry said those affected include students from Ascension Episcopal School in Lafayette, a city about 70 miles southwest of the mall.
