As the State heads to polls, election officials in Chennai and other districts of the State sensitised voters about election-related mobile applications to increase turnout.

At the meeting of election officials with foreign delegates, who visited the city on Wednesday, the election officials pointed to urban and youth apathy during elections in the State, stressing the need for increasing the turnout.

In a message to voters on social media, Chennai District Election Office on Wednesday said: “Let us all come together to ensure 100% voter turnout in the forthcoming General Election to Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly to be held on April 23. On this holiday, kindly make it a priority to visit your polling stations without fail and cast your vote, thereby upholding your democratic right. Let us take pride in being voters and contribute to strengthening our democracy.”

Officials said that ECINET, a mobile application, is a one-stop digital platform for voters to know the candidates, Model Code of Conduct complaints, search name on voter list, voter card complaints, downloading e-voter card, polling trends, and connecting with election officials. At recent meetings, the election officials have also created awareness about mobile applications such as Divyang-ECI (Saksham) and cVIGIL. The Saksham App provides several features to assist persons with disability during the elections.
