The Italian Navy said Wednesday that it is ready carry out minesweeping activities in the Strait of Hormuz once the Iran war is over.
"The Navy is ready to conduct a mine-clearance operation," Navy Chief of Staff Giuseppe Berutti Bergotto told the Lower House's defence committee.
"Obviously, these operations must be conducted in a non-conflict situation because they are highly sensitive and, like all operations in sensitive areas, involve risks.
"Our task is to keep risks to a minimum, and we do this through highly advanced technology".
