Two persons, including a 12-year-old boy, drowned at Neelagunda-Hosahalli near Gandasi in Arsikere taluk of Hassan district in Karnataka on April 19.
The deceased have been identified as Somanahalli Prabhakar, 45, and his nephew Pratheek.
Prateek, a resident of Hassan, had been to his uncle’s place for his summer holidays. He is survived by his parents. He was the only child of his parents. Prabhakar is survived by his wife and three children.
The duo went to the tank to bathe their cattle. It is believed that Prateek fell into the water, and Prabhakar jumped in to rescue the boy. Eventually, both drowned.
The bodies were retrieved by local people. Gandasi police registered a case and handed over the bodies to the family after the post-mortem on April 19 evening.
