In the midst of hectic campaigning, Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments and sitting MLA of Harbour Assembly constituency, P.K. Sekarbabu, discussed with The Hindu his roadmap for improving the locality. His priorities include providing housing for roadside dwellers, establishing parking facilities, and expanding educational centres.Here are the edited excerpts:

What is the first issue you intend to address if elected back to power in 2026?

The first issue to be addressed would be to provide housing for roadside or canal-side dwellers. For this, we are preparing a plan to construct at least 3,000 multi-storey housing units. Increasing the number of educational institutions, learning centres, and libraries will also be a priority. High importance will be given to providing uninterrupted electricity, safe drinking water, and proper sewer systems.
