Pope Leo XIV said Wednesday it is possible to live in peace and he continued to testify to this on a plane taking him from Algiers to Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon, as he continued a 10-day visit to Africa that will also take in Angola and Equatorial Guinea.

It is necessary to live in harmony with "respect from all for all," the Pope said this as he greeted journalists aboard the plane.

"In two days in Algeria, I think we truly had a wonderful opportunity to continue building bridges to promote dialogue.

"I think the visit to the mosque was significant in showing that, despite our different faiths, lifestyles, and ways of worshipping God, we can still live together in peace," the pope said.

"This is what the world needs to hear today, and together we can continue to offer our witness," the American pontiff concluded.
