Chief Minister Revanth Reddy criticised senior leader T. Jeevan Reddy for joining hands with Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) chief K Chandrashekhar Rao despite the party giving him the respect and opportunities.

In a meeting with key Congress leaders from Jagtial on Tuesday at his residence, he said that Mr. Jeevan Reddy was always treated with respect within the party and was never undermined. “We have never spoken or acted in a manner that would diminish his dignity,” he said.

He recalled that the party had worked collectively for Mr. Jeevan Reddy’s victory in the 2023 Assembly elections. The leadership had suggested he contest from Karimnagar in the Lok Sabha polls, but eventually accommodated his request to contest from Nizamabad by granting him the ticket. “Unfortunately, he lost the election,” the Chief Minister noted.

He further said that even in municipal elections, tickets were allotted to candidates recommended by Mr. Jeevan Reddy. “We assured him of a political future for himself and his family, but he chose to leave the party,” he said, attributing the exit to “stubbornness.”

The CM criticised Mr. Jeevan Reddy for joining hands with Mr. Chandrashekar Rao, calling it “deeply disappointing.” He alleged that the move had hurt the self-respect of Congress cadre in Jagtial. “A leader of his experience should not have taken such a decision,” he said.
