Responding to the appeal received by two Iranian sisters on (April 8) affected by the ongoing conflict in West Asia, District Collector M. Abhishikt Kishore extended financial assistance amounting to ₹1 lakh on Thursday to the sisters, currently stuck in Visakhapatnam.
The assistance was provided in two parts, ₹50,000 through the district’s Sanjeevani Fund and another ₹50,000 in cash contributed by the Kanaka Mahalakshmi Devasthanam. The Collector handed over the cheque and cash to the Iranian student sisters at his chamber on Thursday evening.
The two sisters—Zenab Mohammadi and Soolmaz Mohamaddi, are currently pursuing a D.Pharmacy courses in Visakhapatnam. They had approached the District Revenue Officer on Wednesday, submitting a representation explaining their financial difficulties due to the ongoing situation in their home country.
